SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST POSITION AT SHOPLOGIX – a Constellation Software Company

Who we need

Reporting to the Controller of the Smart Manufacturing Portfolio of companies and the CEO of Shoplogix, we are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst with a background in ideally both industry and public accounting. You will be managing a staff accountant that will be performing the day to day accounting bookings and you will be responsible for accurate and timely financial reporting. Equally as important, you will be performing financial analyses to look for ways to continuously improve the business, working directly and closely with the CEO of Shoplogix and the Group Controller.

You have the option to come to our new Oakville headquarters on a daily basis or work most of the week from home. We anticipate that at least 2 times per week is needed in the office for collaborations and meetings.

How you will make an impact:

  • Manage a staff accountant. Provide leadership and support to a staff accountant and review work performed. The two of you will be the financial team dedicated to Shoplogix and will receive support as needed from the financial team at a group level.
  • Ensure that monthly, quarterly and annual accounting and financial reporting are timely and accurate. Assist with journal entries, prepare monthly financial reports, prepare account reconciliations, prepare monthly commissions schedule for payroll processing, assist with the preparation of year-end working papers for accounting and tax audit etc.
  • Manage quarterly business forecasting process. Work with the CEO and department heads to update the 3 months rolling forecast on a quarterly basis and provide monthly actuals vs. forecast analyses.
  • Provide Financial analyses. Prepare ad hoc financial analysis as required by Management. Take initiative to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Provide Operational analyses. Track and report various monthly business indicators and work with operational leaders to identify improvement opportunities based on the data.
  • Improve processes. Identify ways to improve financial processes, and implement, monitor, and track the plan to completion.
  • Integrate acquisitions. Assist with the financial integration of potential future tuck-in acquisitions for Shoplogix.

You will bring:

  • The experience. Attained a Business/Finance degree (i.e. BBA, Comm. etc.) with preference given to those with relevant further study/designations (CPA). Minimum of 4 years' experience working in a Finance/Accounting role - ideally both in public accounting and industry.
  • The technical skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. You are highly organized, able to keep tabs on tasks occurring simultaneously and able to adjust and respond professionally to changing priorities and ad hoc issues. Advanced skills and experience in MS Office Excel. Experience with Great Plains accounting software an asset
  • The personality. Our business is one in which building relationships and working effectively with others on the team plays an important role. You are driven to perform, results-oriented and willing to do what it takes in a deadline driven, fast paced environment. We look for enthusiastic, energetic self-starters who likes to put forward suggestions and ideas on how to improve the status quo. You are capable of guiding e.g. department heads as for how to improve financial/operational ratios.
  • The communication skills. The position requires a skilled verbal and written communicator with the confidence and polish to speak with senior executives, accountants, customers, and colleagues.
  • The flexibility. As the workload varies based on quarterly financial deliverables, you are flexible to do what it takes to meet specific deadlines
